2023/24 Ghana Premier League: Preview – Asante Kotoko vs Heart Of Lions

Former Champions Asante Kotoko will host newly promoted side, Heart of Lions at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Lions last played in the Ghana Premier League in 2015 where they were relegated after finishing 14th place in the 16 club league.

Asante Kotoko have won one in the last two encounters between the two sides.

Heart of Lions have also recorded one victory over the Kotoko in their last two games-  (Heart of Lions 3-1 Asante Kotoko, Asante Kotoko 4-0 Heart of Lions).

Asante Kotoko have appointed their former head coach Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum with the signing of Yussif Nurudeen Mohammed, Sampson Asamoah, Nanabayin Amoah, Baba Yahaya, Kalo Ouattara and Henry Ansu.

Heart of Lions were promoted to the  Premier League after finishing top in Zone three of the Access Bank division one league and have maintained their head coach, Salifu Fatawu with players like Dickson Sakabutu, Thomas Kwabena Osae, new signing, Seedorf Asante, Denis Hutor and Ruben Hennesy all available for their first game.

The game will kick off at 6pm and will be live on StarTimes.

2023/24 Ghana Premier League: Preview – Berekum Chelsea vs Bibiani GoldStars

Berekum Chelsea will host Bibiani Gold Stars at the Golden City Park on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Gold Stars have boosted their team with Sadat Mohammed, Yaw Osei and Roland Frimpong who joined the team after their contract expired at Real Tamale United.

William Dankyi Ntori has also joined Gold Stars after leaving King Faisal as well as Ali Huzaf from Dreams FC.

Berekum Chelsea have maintained their head coach Christopher Ennin and will rely on Stephen Amankona, Obeng Sekyere Gregory, Mizack Afriyie and Ansu Patrick.

Berekum Chelsea have won two of their four games played in the Premier league with one ending in a draw and Gold Stars recording one victory.

Berekum Chelsea are unbeaten at home against Gold Stars with one win and a draw and are yet to concede a goal against Sunday’s opponents.

The encounter will start at exactly 3pm.

2023/24 Ghana Premier League: Preview – Nsoatreman FC vs Bechem United

Nsoatreman will be participating in their second betPawa Premier League after finishing 13th in the 2022/23 betPawa Premier League as they open the season against Bechem United.

Bechem United have boosted their squad list with Augustine Okrah and Samuel Osei Kuffuor who are back after missing the last season while former Dreams FC forward Percious Boah and winger Darlington Gyan Fosu have all joined the Hunters.

Nsoatreman FC are also coming into their second season with the likes of Manaf Umar, Felix Hammond, Eric Osei Bonsu, Issaka Mohammed, Kwabena Adu Meider and Ushau Abu Mohammed who joined them from Hearts of Oak permanently after playing on loan last  season.

Bechem United finished 3rd place last season with 54 points and have appointed Bismark Kobi Mensah as the club’s head coach after the exit of Kassim Mingle Ocansey while Nsoatreman have appointed former league winner, Maxwell Konadu as the head coach.

The game will kickoff at 3 pm local time.

2023/24 Ghana Premier League: Preview – Legon Cities vs Karela United

Legon Cities will begin their 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season at home at the El Wak Stadium against Karela United FC on Sunday at 3pm.

Karela United finished ahead of Legon Cities in the league table as they completed the last season as 8th place team with 47 points while Legon Cities finished 9th place with 46 points.

Karela United have signed the likes of Maxwell Agyemang, Oshie Mamoud, Abdul Bashiru and Maxwell Arthur ahead of the new season.

Legon Cities will start the season with new head coach, Samuel Kwasi Fabin and new players like Richard Senanu, Samuel Frimpong, Frank Antwi and Kwame Aziz.

Karela United won their last betPawa Premier league game in 2023 against relegated Kotoku Royals with Legon Cities also winning their last five home games in 2023.

2023/24 Ghana Premier League: FC Samartex battle Aduana FC

At the Nsenkyire Sports Complex, FC Samartex will battle two times league champions, Aduana FC in their opening match of the 2023/24 league season.

FC Samartex in their debut premier league season picked four points against Aduana FC after drawing 2-2 in Dormaa and winning 1-0 at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex.

Aduana FC are coming in the season with a new head coach, Yaw Acheampong and the return of forward, Bright Adjei who joined the team on a loan deal from Tanzanian side, Singida Big Stars FC.

Samartex have also signed Division One league top scorer, Baba Hamadu Musa who joined the team from Skyy FC, Ebenezer Ocran, Emmanuel Darko, Emmanuel Mamah from Tema Youth and are also coming in the season with a new head coach, Nurudeen Yussif.

The match is scheduled to be played at exactly 3pm.

VIDEO: Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey provides two assists as Brighton defeat Man United at Old Trafford

Ghana defender, Tariq Lamptey was in sensational form for Brighton as they travelled to Old Trafford to beat Manchester United following the resumption of the English Premier League after the international break. 


Lamptey was left out of Ghana’s games against the Central African Republic and Liberia after just making a return from injury.


The English-born right-back made his return to action since March in the game against Newcastle United before the international break.


Roberto De Zerbi handed the Black Stars defender a starting role against Manchester United and the 22-year-old delivered by providing two assists in the 3-1 win.


The Seagulls opened the scoring in the first half through English-born Ghanaian Danny Welbeck before Lamptey served the assist for the second after the break, which was finished by Pascal Gross.


Lamptey then created Joao Predro’s goal and Brighton’s third as De Zerbi’s men tore apart Manchester United in front of their own fans.


Late in the game, Tunisian youngster Hannibal Mjebri pulled one back for the host.

2023/24 GPL: Great Olympics held by returnees Bofoakwa Tano

Bofoakwa Tano held Great Olympics to a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium as they managed to pick a point on their Ghana Premier League return.

Bofoakwa managed to maintain their unbeaten run against Great Olympics in the Ghana Premier League in their last three meetings.

The last time Great Olympics managed to beat Bofoakwa was a 1-0 defeat in July 2003 Ghana Premier League season.

The two traditional based teams shared the spoils in a very entertaining game played in the capital.

Ghana striker Inaki WIlliams scores as Athletic Club secure victory over Cadiz in La Liga

Black Stars forward Inaki WIlliams netted his second goal in La Liga this season as Athletic Club thrashed Cadiz at San Memes.

The Ghana international, who rejoined his teammates on Wednesday after the international break, wrapped up victory for Bilbao with a fine finish in the 90th minute.

After a barren first half, Gorka Guruzeta opened the scoring in the 66th minute after connecting to an Oscar De Marcos pass.

Asier Villalibre doubled the lead two minutes later before turning provider for Williams’ goal in the final minute. 

Williams’ younger brother Nico Williams was not in the matchday squad after returning from international break with a knock.

The 28-year-old has been a key figure at San Memes for almost a decade but yet to score his first international goal for Ghana.
