Former Hearts Of Oak defender, Benjamin Agyare has claimed that striker Joseph Esso deserved GHS 100,000 monthly salary.
Agyare – who is shocked about the Phobians’ decision to release Joseph Esso indicated that, Esso’s quality outweighed his teammates and should have been treated differently.
The ex-Heart Of Lions defender and four others – including Esso – were allowed to leave the Rainbow Club on Friday. The Ghanaian Giants decided not to renew the contracts of Agyare, Christopher Bonney, Aboubacar TraorĂ©, Bernard Arthur, and most notably Joseph Esso.

While the four players were released for non-performance, Joseph Esso is leaving because the club could not meet his demands for a renewal. Reports indicate Esso is requesting GHS150,000 for a year but Hearts is ready to offer GHS 90,000.
Speaking to Accra-based Angel TV, Agyare noted that the management of the club should have done better to keep Esso.
“Even Joseph Esso himself is even shocked Hearts Of Oak released him. I can tell you Esso deserves 1 billion a month. Management of the club could have done better to keep Esso. His quality surpasses many players in the team, ” he told Angel TV.
The National Chapters Committee – supporters wing of the club has met Esso for a possible return to the club.
Esso scored three goals in 14 appearances in the truncated 2019-20 Ghana Premier League.
