Sudanese powerhouse, Al Hilal, have rewarded Ghana’s Asante Kotoko for their contributions to the development of football in Africa.
The Porcupine Warriors’ CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah, received a plaque presented by the officials of the North African outfit on behalf of the club.
A club statement read by Kotoko on Thursday read,
“CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah received a plaque on behalf of the club from the management of Al Hilal in recognition of Asante Kotoko’s contribution to the development of football in Africa.”
The 25-time champions of Ghana have produced numerous talented players who have made great history on the African continent, with two of them-Ibrahim Sunday and Abdul Razak-winning the Africa Player of the Year while playing for the Ghanaian giants.
They are two-time Africa Champions—1971 and 1983—having played in 9 finals.
In 2010, Kotoko were adjudged as Africa’s club of the century by the International Football Federation of History and Statistics (IFFHS).
Kotoko is currently in Sudan, preparing for the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League and the Caf Champions League, both of which begin next month.
